On Sunday, March 3rd, RCF, Inc. hosted an International Tea and Tablescapes fundraiser in Zeeland, MI. Board member, Amy Devanney, chaired the event. The goal of the event was to raise awareness and funds for the Foundation while giving guests the opportunity to learn more about the different countries represented.
Friends of RCF, who have a connection with the countries represented, decorated individual tables that included personal collectibles, photos, information on customs and lifestyle, china, table linens and centerpieces. Native foods, sweets, and treats from each of the countries were available for guests to sample.
A variety of countries including Sweden, Ukraine, China, Chile, The Netherlands, Senegal, Israel and more were represented. Amy Devanney, who taught English in China for one summer, decorated a table from China. Many who live in the Zeeland/Holland area of Michigan have Dutch roots so of course there was a Dutch Table displayed by Dutch Village of Holland, MI.
In addition, RefuTea, a loose leaf tea company in Grand Rapids that supports refugees was serving tea that was available for purchase. Corporate sponsors of the event were: Apache Logistics, Innotec, and Country Club Landscapes.
Along with taking a global stroll in the historic Colonial Clock Building, visitors were able to talk, in real time, via Skype, with our Director of Redeemer Christian School. Guests were able to ask questions about the lives the children lead in this country in the Middle East.
Redeemer Christian School, supported by RCF, Inc., provides a free, Christian education to orphaned and impoverished children. A BIG thanks to all who volunteered, displayed, sponsored, and visited this event.
For the fifth year in a row, you have brought great joy to the children of RCF. Their joy in celebrating the birth of Jesus is real. Like Jesus brought light into the world, their school brings love and light into their world that is often filled with fear and hopelessness.
Whether playing the part of an angel, a wiseman, or shepherd, the children ALL love to be part of the re-enactment of the Nativity story. They tell it with beauty and reverence. Especially captivating was the dancing of the angels around Mary and the baby Jesus.
Santa made a special visit and helped the staff pass out special gifts picked for each child. The children have so little to call their own, that they were thrilled to open the only gift they received this year. Warm clothes, shoes that fit, a jacket for winter, and of course some treats were given out to all 74 of our students.
Our Director and his wife wrapped all the gifts by hand and with love. All the kids jointed in a hearty meal together. There were dancing Santas and a dramatic depiction of how we can give the enemy less power through the power of prayer that God gives us.
In their world, Faith is what truly gets the children from day to day. In a country where Christians are not tolerated, YOU are letting the children know they are not forgotten and that you are praying for them and caring for them. This, along with the awesome education they are getting, gives them HOPE!
All the children send their love and thanks.....may you be blessed abundantly in 2019!
A big thank you to Board member, Gregg Oonk (the essence of enthusiasm), who, with the help of Amy Devanney (also on our Board), and a planning committee brought together the community of Holland, MI to raise close to $3,500. for the children that RCF, Inc. supports. Praise!!
The event which took place at the West Ottawa Golf Club had sponsors for every hole providing food, fun, and giveaways. Sunny, blue skies prevailed as guy and gal golfers teed off at 1 pm. Sept. 14th. If you look at the photos, smiles were seen all around as everyone agreed it was a great day out for a GREAT CAUSE!!
Local restaurants, artisans, and businesses provided AMAZING prizes that were raffled off. Everything from massages, to hand-crafted jewelry, to restaurant gift certificates, video gaming equipment, flat screen t.v., bird houses, grill and accessories, a lawnmower, and a custom electric guitar...WOW!!
Other donations are coming in from those who couldn't play but wanted to let the kids know they are loved. If you missed out - it's never too late to give :)
The children learn from their teachers that Jesus loves them, but ON SEPTEMBER 14TH THESE GOOD FOLKS WERE THE HANDS AND FEET OF JESUS....BIG TIME!!
With 20 new children added to the school, proceeds will go toward increasing the budget for daily meals, textbooks and school supplies, additional desk chairs, and Monthly Park/Sports days so the children can get out of the slums and enjoy the green grass we take for granted.
To everyone who participated, YOU nailed it! We can't thank you enough for all you've done. The children are blown away by your generosity and caring....Amazing what can happen when a caring community comes together!
May you all be blessed abundantly!
The children look forward to the Christmas Program, with great anticipation, all year long. They love to retell the Nativity Story. Even if their big part is playing a single sheep in the flock that wondrous night, it brings the joy of Jesus' birth home to them.
Our staff goes to great lengths to transform the classroom into that mysterious first night in Bethlehem. Since other mission groups (like those who deliver shoe boxes) are not allowed into this region, if we don't donate, none of these precious children will receive a gift at Christmas.
They are excited to get an article of clothing (like a new pair of shoes without holes that actually fit), a toy, and treats. They have a great time enjoying fellowship with their RCS family over a hearty meal while singing, dancing, and worshiping to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
What if there was one less gift under your tree this year so that a needy orphan might have the joy of opening a gift this year? Just $30/child will make this happen. This is one of our most popular campaigns because it brings such joy to the lives of impoverished children who have so little to be joyful about.
This evening they can shed their two sizes too small clothing and put on the donated costume of a Wise man or of Mary holding baby Jesus.
You can make this happen. Just click over to our 'Donate' page and look for the "Christmas in July" symbol. We need your help now because the planning and purchasing of gifts begins now. You'll love seeing the "After" pictures....we promise.
Please say you'll join us in bringing Christmas to this dark corner of the world....
Chances are you grew up getting to play baseball or soccer with friends. Or, you had the opportunity to play at nice grassy parks and ball fields. You played childhood games, slid down slides, and basically got to be a kid.
That's not the case for our kids. Many were working slave labor jobs, or begging for food, or trying to figure out where they might lay their head down. They didn't own toys or sports equipment and the filthy streets were no place for childhood games. We can't even fathom their childhoods.
In addition to providing the love of Jesus, a safe haven, and the hope of an education, RCF, Inc. has added a monthly Park/Sports Day to the curriculum. Call it Gym Class, but we take an inexpensive bus to a green, grassy park outside the slums on a Saturday so that the kids can just laugh, cheer, smile and simply be children.
Favorite games are badminton, cricket, soccer, running races, tug of war, sack races, as well as just playing on the slides, swings, see saws, and playground equipment.
Even the Director and teachers get in on the fun. YOU are giving them life when you give them the chance to be a child.
Thirty-seven lovely ladies gathered in Greensburg, PA for tea at The Victorian Lady of Academy Hill tea parlor. Together they bid and outbid each other on Silent Auction baskets and prizes and raised over $3,400. for the children!! Huge Praise!!
Proceeds will go toward equipping our larger school facility. Thank you to all the sponsors and donors who provided baskets and prizes.
It was a wonderful afternoon for such a worthy cause...looks like this may become a regular event. Thanks to ALL who attended!

The children of RCS prayed that God would make a way to expand their school so that others, orphaned like themselves, would be able to attend their school. God heard their prayers and answered in a big way. The goal was 10k.....at this writing YOU have raised over $13,000 ! PRAISE!!
What was amazing was HOW you did it. Some big hearts from the big state of Texas held a "Backyard Gathering" with a farm to table dinner, live band, raffle, and photo booth and raised $4,700. Others gave of their business profits and that was everything from knitting blankets, to landscaping, to playing the organ, to self designed coloring books, to yoga studio owner. Others mailed letters to friends and family. One loyal supporter donated all her tooth fairy money to the cause. Through YOU, God made it happen.
So what now? WE DESPERATELY NEED SPONSORS FOR 20+ CHILDREN WHO WANT TO COME OFF THE WAITING LIST. Just $15/mo or $180/year will provide them with a backpack, text books and learning materials, a Bible, a nourishing meal every day (usually) the only meal they get, and medical aid, and hope. Every dime you donate goes to your child.
If you haven't made a gift lately, the money raised gets us in the door of a larger facility, but we still need:
- A generator because power is not dependable in this region.
- Another teacher's pay
- Increased utilities coverage
- A computer and computer station
- A water cooler with sanitary water
- A teacher desk, additional carpets, fans, propane heaters, dishes
- ASSISTANCE WITH ONGOING COSTS TO RUN A SCHOOL GOING FORWARD into 2018.
** All gifts will receive a tax receipt. Be sure to include mailing address.**
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU'VE DONE AND CONTINUE TO DO!!
See below for pictures of the Backyard Gathering event, some of our donors, and some of the new children we'll be able to serve!
